Ribbon sublimation is a thermal transfer printing technique used to create permanent, resistant designs on white or clear polyester ribbons. It uses a special sublimation ink printed on transfer paper. The ribbon is heated and pressed against the paper so that the ink sublimates and penetrates the ribbon fibres. This method produces high-quality prints that are highly resistant to washing and wear. It also allows high-resolution patterns and colour gradations thanks to the CMYK model. However, sublimation does not work on dark-coloured ribbons or non-polyester materials.
